Arndt-Eistert

Synthesis of higher homologues of carboxylic acids by interaction of diazomethane and acyl chlorides.

Newman-Beal modification - with triethylamine (which binds the HCl) and silver benzencarboxylate.

Wilds modification - with higher alcohols; catalysts are not necessary.
